How to add a Youtube Video into the sidebar of a WordPress website

This tutorial shows you how easy it is to insert a Youtube video into the sidebar of your WordPress website.

Please note: Due to its file size, the video does take a few seconds to ‘kick in’ (but it’s worth the wait :)), and it can be viewed in full-screen high resolution by hovering over the video once it has started (click on the TV image on the bottom right hand corner).

I hope you enjoy it and I would really appreciate any comments you may have (by adding them at the bottom of this page).

    Hi Ian,

Thank you so much, i can’t wait to attend the training with you in January 2012. I’m still struggling at the moment with both WP and HTML as I’m not really a tech person, even my site at the moment was designed for me by a programmer and can hardly add anything/function to the site. But with you and your training, I believe I can do it. I’m really grateful for finding information about you on the internet.

      Hi Sara

Thanks for your comments. I have had one delegate who travelled all the way from Geneva to attend a course, but if you came along that would create a new record. 🙂

If you don’t like the idea of travelling to London, I can offer training by Skype.

    Hi Ian,
This tuition video is really great – clear and concise, showing every step. Very helpful. Thanks for a really interesting training day yesterday. I am feeling very confident about setting up my webiste mark II!

      Hi Caroline

Many thanks for those kind comments.

I’m really pleased to see you like the video – there are others (more recent) on the blog. This tutorial was recorded when an earlier version of WordPress was ‘current’, though the process of inserting a You Tube video into the sidebar remains the same.

As for yesterday’s training course, it was my pleasure and it’s great to know you enjoyed it! 🙂
